Konkordia Hut

Konkordia Hütte sits at 2,850m on the Konkordia Platz, a high plateau where the Aletsch, Jungfrau, and Grindelwald glaciers converge in the Bernese Oberland. Reach it from Jungfraujoch (3,454m) in 2–3 hours descending west across the Jungfrau Firn, or from Märjelen Hut (2,335m) in 4–5 hours heading south-southwest. Winter access requires glacier experience and proper equipment; summer routes are well-marked but demand mountain fitness. The hut works as a base for traversing the Aletsch region, ascending Jungfrau (4,158m), or continuing south towards the Gletsch valley.
The SAC hut provides 155 beds across multiple dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves three meals daily (dinner, breakfast, packed lunch). Self-catering is possible if you bring your own food. Water comes from the glacier. WiFi is available, though signals are weak at this altitude. The hut opens late June through mid-September; the exact season depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk on approach routes. Facilities are basic but functional—no shower, pit toilets, and cold nights even in summer.
Book directly with the hut by email or phone as soon as dates are fixed; July and August fill quickly, especially weekends. A two-night minimum is often required. Expect to pay €45–60 per bed depending on room type. Confirm current opening dates and access conditions before departure, as late snow can close routes into September.
