Sunnehüsi

Sunnehüsi sits at 1,125m on the Blümlisalp massif in the Bernese Oberland, offering access to high alpine terrain and multi-day traverses. Approach from Oeschinen Lake via the Blümlisalp trail in 2.5 to 3 hours. The hut also connects to routes toward Engstligenalp and the Sädelhorn. Most hikers arrive from Kandersteg, which is 15km north via valley roads.

This small SAC hut holds 18 beds across simple dormitory accommodation. Meals are available during the season—bring your own food or order from the warden in advance. Water comes from a reliable spring. The hut has no shower and limited heating. It operates year-round but staffing varies; check with the SAC Blümlisalp section before visiting outside peak season. The warden lives on-site during summer and weekends.

Book direct with the SAC Blümlisalp section. July and August weekends fill 4 to 6 weeks ahead. Reserve by phone or email as soon as your dates are set. The hut is small, so availability is tight during school holidays. Outside summer, contact the managing section to confirm opening and staffing before heading up. Half-board rates are reasonable for a SAC hut; bring cash as card payments aren't always reliable in this location.
