Alp Wisliboda

Alp Wisliboda sits at 1,337m in the Säntis region of northeastern Switzerland, a working alpine farm that welcomes hikers year-round. The hut lies on the main hiking route from Urnäsch to Säntis and is easily reached in 1.5 hours from Urnäsch village (800m). Most people approach from the valley via the well-marked trail through mixed forest and alpine meadow. The location works equally well as a lunch stop during longer ridge walks or as a base for exploring the quieter corners of this pastoral landscape east of St. Gallen.
Alp Wisliboda operates as a simple alpine restaurant rather than an overnight hut. The farm serves meals to passing hikers daily, with hearty local food and drinks available. Capacity is limited—expect around 30-40 seats inside and on the terrace. Opening hours are typically 8:00 to dusk in summer months (May to October), with reduced service November to April depending on snow and weather. The terrace offers views across pastures toward the Säntis massif to the east. No accommodation is available here, though several SAC huts and hotels exist within 2-3 hours' walk.
Call ahead (+41 71 367 11 64) if you're arriving with a large group or visiting outside peak summer season. Weekends draw regular foot traffic from nearby towns, so expect busier conditions Saturday and Sunday. Card payments are accepted but bring cash as backup.
