Angerhütte

Angerhütte sits at 1030m in the Appenzell Alps of northeastern Switzerland, roughly 90 minutes' walk from the village of Säntis. Approach from the north via the Appenzell side or from the south through the Toggenburg Valley. The hut works as a base for day hikes across the region's rolling ridge network and as a stopping point on longer Alpine traverses. Access is straightforward year-round on well-marked trails, though winter snow can slow progress.

The DAV Sektion Augsburg runs this modest hut with around 30 beds split between private rooms and shared dormitories. They serve hot meals and simple packed lunches. The hut has basic facilities including heating and running water. Opening season runs from Easter through October, with variable hours outside summer. Check ahead if visiting in shoulder months—some weekdays see limited staffing. The hut attracts a steady mix of day-trippers and overnight guests, so it rarely feels crowded despite its small size.

The hut sits within easy reach of Säntis (2502m) and connects well to the longer Alpine routes crossing northeastern Switzerland. Cell reception is reliable.
