Jurahaus

Jurahaus sits at 1,320m on the Weissenstein ridge in the Jura mountains, between Solothurn and Biel/Bienne. The hut is accessible from Weissenstein village via a 1.5-hour hike, or from Oberdorf (Solothurn) in 2.5 hours. Most parties approach from the Weissenstein cable car station, which cuts the ascent to under an hour on foot. The ridge location makes Jurahaus a natural base for exploring the northern Swiss Jura's gentle rolling terrain and limestone plateaus.
The SAC-managed hut has 35 beds split across several rooms with dormitory and double configurations. Hot meals and packed lunches are available year-round. The kitchen provides basic self-catering options if you prefer to cook. Water comes from a reliable spring. Toilet and shower facilities are simple but adequate. The hut stays open all year, though you should confirm winter staffing before arriving November through March, as opening depends on weather and group bookings.

Weekday visits in shoulder seasons are usually straightforward to arrange same-week. Expect to pay standard SAC member and non-member rates. The hut closes for annual maintenance in early October, so check before planning a late-autumn trip.
