Cabin Montoz

Cabane Montoz sits at 1,258m on the ridge between Montoz and Chasseral in the Jura Mountains, roughly midway between Solothurn and Neuchâtel. Reach it via the Col de la Givrine (1,258m) from Valangin in about 2 hours on foot, or from Saint-Imier in 2.5 hours. The hut is well positioned on the Jura Crest Trail and serves as a base for day walks across the ridge network. Winter access is reliable thanks to the relatively modest elevation.
The SAC Section Pierre-Pertuis manages this small hut with capacity for around 30 people. Meals are served on weekends and some weekday periods; check ahead for meal availability. The hut has dormitory beds and a basic kitchen. Water comes from a nearby spring. It operates year-round, though facilities are minimal in winter so notify the keeper before arriving in cold months. The hut is staffed only on weekends and selected summer weeks, so you'll need to book ahead for guaranteed access outside these times.
Book directly with the keeper via the SAC website. Summer weekends and school holidays fill quickly, so book 4–6 weeks ahead for those periods. Winter visits require advance notice. The hut is popular with local and regional hikers rather than long-distance Alpine trekkers, making it quieter than busier SAC huts.
