Segneshütte

Segneshütte sits at 2,103m on the Segnespass, between the Glarus and Uri Alps. Reach it from Elm via the Ämsigrat trail in 3.5 hours, or from Wichel in 4 hours. Both routes are well-marked but steep in sections. The hut is also accessible from the Säntis region. Most hikers use Segneshütte as a base for ridge walking and peak ascents in the surrounding area.
The SAC-managed hut has 50 bed spaces across several rooms. Meals include hearty three-course dinners and substantial breakfasts. The kitchen provides simple lunches or packed supplies. Water comes from the roof collection system. The hut runs from early June through early October. It's staffed year-round by the keeper, so winter visits need advance notice. Basic facilities include a dining room with a wood stove and an external toilet.
Book by phone directly with the hut. July and August require booking 4–6 weeks ahead. June, September, and October are quieter. The hut fills on weekends year-round, so book ahead even outside peak season. Winter visits need special arrangements and advance coordination with the keeper.
