Alp Grüm
2.5About
The hut is a simple, working mountain dairy with basic accommodation. It sleeps around 20 people in dormitory rooms with mattresses and blankets. Meals focus on hearty local food—the hut makes its own cheese and butter and serves mountain classics like älplermagronen and simple soups. There's no shower or mobile signal. The restaurant is open to day hikers, making it a popular lunch stop for anyone hiking the Albula-Bernina corridor. Water comes from a mountain spring. The hut operates year-round but is quietest from November to March.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least a week ahead during peak season (June to September). July and August are predictably busy; aim to arrive by midday if you're hiking up from Preda. Winter visits require advance notice since staffing is minimal. The hut can be reached from the Cavaglia side as well, making it a flexible rest point on longer mountain itineraries.
