About

Alp Nova sits at 2,284m on the Albula Pass, connecting the Prättigau valley to the Engadin. The hut stands on the main hiking route between Schaffhausen and the south—accessible in 3.5 hours from Schanfigg or 2.5 hours from Bergün. The terrain is exposed alpine meadow with few trees. Winter snow blocks access from November through April.
Alp Nova is a working alpine dairy farm that takes hikers. It has 24 beds in simple shared rooms. Meals centre on dairy products: fondue, raclette, fresh milk. You can sleep and eat here—no self-catering. The owners operate the farm year-round but only accept overnight guests June through October. Day hikers are welcome any time the road is passable. Toilet facilities are basic. There is no shower.
Book direct by phone or email at least one week ahead, earlier if you're visiting in July or August. The hut fills on weekends. Expect cash payment only. The nearest alternative accommodation is Bergün, 8km and 1.5 hours downhill.
