Bivacco Marino Bassi

Bivacco Marino Bassi sits at 1957m in the Orobie Alps, accessible from the Val Brembana region near Bergamo. The approach takes roughly 2-3 hours on foot from the nearest road access. This is a working hut for climbers targeting the surrounding peaks and ridges, not a casual hiking destination. The terrain is steep and exposed in places—come prepared.

The bivacco offers 12 beds in basic mountain accommodation. There's no electricity or running water; expect a generator for limited lighting and a wood stove for heating. Meals are available if arranged in advance, but this hut operates on a minimalist model. Most climbers use it as a staging point for early starts rather than a destination in itself. The season runs roughly June through September, depending on snow conditions.

Book by phone directly with the hut management. Summers fill up with mountaineers working the ridge traverses and technical routes in the range, so contact them at least 4-6 weeks ahead if you're climbing July or August. Shoulder months (June and September) are quieter. Bring cash—card payments are unreliable at this elevation. Water is available from the mountain spring; treat or boil it. This is a climber's hut: come acclimatised and self-sufficient.
