Bivacco San Glisente

Bivacco San Glisente sits at 1956m in the Bergamasc Alps, on the border between Lombardy and the Veneto. Access from the Bracca valley takes 2.5 hours on foot; the route climbs steeply through mixed forest before opening onto alpine meadow near the hut. Most parties approach from the Val Seriana to the southwest. This is proper mountain terrain—terrain shoes or light boots are standard kit.

The bivacco is a simple stone shelter run by local volunteers. It sleeps 10 in basic dormitory accommodation. There is no staffed kitchen or meals service; you bring and cook your own food on camp stoves. Water is available from a spring near the hut. The shelter remains open year-round but is most reliably stocked with blankets and fuel canisters from June through September. Winter visits require mountain experience and self-sufficiency.

Book by phone with the managing group (contact details available through local hiking associations in Bergamo or Lecco). This is a low-capacity mountain shelter, not a staffed hut, so summer weekends fill fast. Contact at least 2–3 weeks ahead for July and August. The bivacco is ideal for parties doing multi-day ridge traverses in the Bergamasc Alps or approaching peaks like Pizzo del Diavolo and Pizzo Coca from the north.
