Cabin di Sciora

Capanna di Sciora sits at 2,118m in the Sciora Valley, deep in the Bregaglia region of southeastern Graubünden. Reach the hut from Borgonuovo (near Stampa) via a steep hiking trail that takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The route climbs through forest before opening onto alpine meadows with views toward the Sciora peaks. The approach is straightforward but gains 1,100m, so come prepared for a sustained ascent.

The SAC-managed hut sleeps 42 across dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves hearty dinners and breakfasts, or you can use the self-catering kitchen if you prefer. Water comes from the mountain stream. The hut operates year-round but is quietest in winter and early spring when snow and cold limit foot traffic. Summer hiking season (June to September) brings steady use. The location works as a base for ridge walks, scrambles to nearby peaks, and onward treks deeper into the Val Sciora.

Book directly by email or phone. July and August fill 2 to 3 weeks ahead, so contact the hut by mid-June if you want a summer weekend slot. Weekday visits outside July-August are easier to arrange. The hut can accommodate walk-ins outside peak season if beds are free, but don't rely on this in summer.
