About
Capanna Meden is a small facility offering basic alpine shelter. It has capacity for around 30 people in dormitory rooms. The SAC/CAS manages the hut. Meals consist of hearty mountain food—expect simple dinners and breakfasts. The hut has WiFi, which is unusual at this elevation. A gas stove provides heating. Water comes from a spring nearby. The hut opens from mid-June through September, weather permitting. Winter access is possible but requires mountaineering skills and winter-specific equipment.
Book directly with the hut in advance. July and August demand booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead. The hut keeper speaks German, some English, and Italian. Phone ahead if you're arriving outside standard meal times. The access trail can become dangerous after heavy rain or early snow. Check conditions before departing.
