Refuge Bresciadega

Rifugio Bresciadega sits at 1,214m in the Val Bregaglia, a granite-walled valley running south from the Maloja Pass toward the Italian border. The hut is a 1.5-hour walk from Soglio, the valley's main settlement, on a well-marked path that gains 300m through mixed forest and opens into alpine meadow. Most hikers combine it with routes toward the Albigna glacier or the Forno valley to the east. The location works well as a base for day walks or as a stopping point on longer ridge traverses in the southern Graubünden hills.
The rifugio is a simple mountain hut with room for around 40 guests in dormitory and private rooms. Full meals are served—order lunch and dinner in advance. The hut runs year-round but verify opening dates before planning a winter visit, as staffing can be irregular. Water and basic cooking facilities are available for self-catering guests. Cell reception is patchy; a working phone is inside the hut.
Book by phone directly with the hut. July and August fill quickly; aim to reserve at least two weeks ahead for these months. June, September, and early October are quieter and offer better weather reliability than spring. Email contact may not be monitored, so calling is the most reliable booking method.
