Refuge Luigi Brasca

Rifugio Luigi Brasca sits at 1303m on the southern slopes of the Prättigau valley in eastern Graubünden, accessible by two main routes. From Schiers, the hiking approach takes 2.5 hours via the Schinenboden ridge. Alternatively, approach from Luzein via Sarnagüel in 3 hours. Both routes are well-marked but steep in sections. The refuge serves as a natural rest point on longer traverses between the Prättigau and Schanfigg valleys, or as a day-hike destination from lower villages.
The refuge offers 30 beds across mixed dormitories and a small number of double rooms. Kitchen facilities are available if you bring your own food, though the hut staff can provide simple meals and hot drinks. Water comes from a reliable spring nearby. The refuge operates seasonally from May through October, with variable opening dates depending on snow conditions in spring. Expect basic mountain hut standards—no electricity in sleeping areas, outdoor toilet facilities.
Book accommodation by telephone or email at least two weeks ahead during July and August. The refuge can fill quickly on summer weekends when weather is stable. Mid-week visits in June and September offer better availability. Winter access is only possible on foot with proper snow equipment; the hut may open sporadically during this period by arrangement.
