Refuge Lavorerio

Rifugio Lavorerio sits at 1,865m in the Prättigau valley, a quieter corner of Graubünden that sees fewer hikers than the busier central valleys. The hut is reached from Schönegg in around 2 hours on foot, following a steady path through mixed forest and alpine pasture. Summer is the main season, though the hut operates year-round for those willing to accept winter conditions and basic services.
The refuge runs as a small, simple operation with 12 beds spread across a few rooms. Showers and flush toilets are available—a reliable standard at this elevation. Meals are provided, though you'll want to confirm menu options and dietary needs when booking. The hut caters to hikers working the surrounding trails and mountaineers using it as a base for ridge traverses and glacier approaches in the nearby Säntis massif and toward Appenzell Alps ridgelines.
