Bivacco Locatelli-Scaioli-Milani

Bivacco Locatelli-Scaioli-Milani sits at 1656m on the south face of Pizzo Tre Signori in the Lecco Prealps. The hut is reached from Ballabio in 2.5–3 hours via a steep hiking trail that climbs through forest before breaking into open terrain. The final approach crosses mixed terrain with some scrambling. This is a practical base for exploring the Tre Signori massif and accessing adjacent peaks in the region.
The bivacco is a small, unmanned shelter managed by CAI Ballabio. It offers basic refuge for 4–6 people on a first-come basis with no services—bring your own water, food, and sleeping bag. There is no electricity, heating, or cooking facilities. The shelter provides protection from the elements and is open year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk. Use this as an emergency shelter or for minimalist mountain users who are self-sufficient.
Contact CAI Ballabio directly before planning a visit to confirm current conditions and access. A headtorch, map, and navigation skills are essential, especially in poor visibility. Summer is the most reliable season; winter approaches require winter mountaineering experience and current snow assessment. There is no booking system—arrive early in the day if you plan to use the shelter during busy weekends.
