Refuge Marchett

Rifugio Marchett sits at 1,240m in the Ticino Alps, on the southern flank of the Swiss Alps near the Italian border. The hut is accessible from the village of Rodi-Fiesso via a hiking trail that takes approximately 2 hours. This makes it a reasonable day's walk for most hikers, though the final approach involves some steep sections. The location gives access to ridge walks and peaks in the Basòdino massif, including onward routes toward higher summits in the region.
The rifugio has 24 beds across multiple rooms and provides half-board accommodation with dinner and breakfast included. The kitchen serves straightforward mountain food, and the hut maintains a small bar. Facilities include basic dormitory sleeping arrangements and shared bathrooms. The hut typically opens from mid-April through October, though dates depend on weather and snow conditions at lower elevations. Winter closures can be extended if spring arrives late.
Book directly by email or phone at least two weeks in advance, especially for weekends from June through September. July and August weekends fill quickly, so contact the hut 4–6 weeks ahead if you're planning then. The hut can usually accommodate walk-ins on weekdays outside peak season, but don't rely on this. Phone ahead to confirm the hut is staffed on your intended arrival date.
