Cabin Adula CAS

Capanna Adula stands at 2,012m in the Ticino Alps, serving as a base for hikers crossing the Gotthard massif. The hut sits on the Adula Pass route, reachable in 3–4 hours from Gotthard-Hospiz to the north or 2.5–3 hours from Rossstock to the south. Most parties approach from the Gotthard pass road, where parking exists near the hospice. The terrain is steep in places but marked throughout. Summer snow can linger until June, so check conditions before departing.

The SAC-managed hut sleeps 24 in simple dorm rooms with mattresses and blankets provided. Meals are served daily during the season: expect hearty evening dishes and packed lunches on request. A self-catering kitchen is available if you prefer to cook. Drinking water comes from a reliable spring. The hut opens from mid-June through September, closing in poor weather. Toilet facilities are basic. This is a working mountain hut, not a hotel—bring a headtorch and expect noise from other parties.

Book directly by email or phone at least 2–3 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. June and September are quieter. Arrive by mid-afternoon to secure your spot and eat with the main group. The hut does not accept online reservations, so a direct call is often fastest. Mobile reception is unreliable; plan to call from lower elevation before you depart.
