Cabin Alpe Arena

Capanna Alpe Arena sits at 1,689m in the Ticino Alps, accessible via a 2.5-hour hike from Rodi-Fiesso in the Verzasca Valley. The approach climbs steadily through mixed forest and alpine meadow, gaining roughly 800m elevation. The hut sits on a broad alp with views toward the Basòdino massif and makes an ideal base for day hikes across the southern Swiss Alps. This is straightforward hiking terrain without technical difficulty.
The hut has 30 beds across multiple rooms and provides meals at fixed mealtimes. Drinking water is available on-site. There is no self-catering kitchen—you eat what the hut serves or bring your own cold food. Mobile reception is weak and there is no WiFi. The hut operates year-round, though snow and weather make winter access unpredictable. Expect a basic, working mountain shelter rather than a resort experience.
Book directly by phone or email. Summer weekends and July–August fill quickly; contact the hut 2–3 months ahead for peak season. The hut can accommodate groups but prefers individual bookings contact them first. The nearest shop is in Rodi-Fiesso, so buy provisions before you leave the valley.
