Cabin Alpinisti Monzesi

Capanna Alpinisti Monzesi sits at 1,173m in the Prealps above Menaggio on Lake Como's eastern shore. The hut works as a base for walking in the foothills and lower limestone peaks that rise between the main Alpine chain and the lake. Access from Menaggio takes 2–2.5 hours of steady ascent through mixed woodland and pasture. Other approach routes connect from neighbouring valleys, making it a logical overnight stop on multi-day traverses of the lower Como region.
The CAI Sezione di Monza maintains this 42-bed hut as a simple, working base rather than a mountain refuge. You'll find dormitory bedding, basic meals cooked to order, and water from a well. The hut runs year-round though staffing and services thin out in winter months—contact ahead if visiting outside summer. Half board and full board arrangements are available, and the guardian can prepare packed lunches for onward days.
