Refuge Casa Dell'Alpino

Rifugio Casa Dell'Alpino sits at 1260m in the Ticino Alps, a base for exploring the Val Verzasca and surrounding ridges. The hut is reached via hiking trails from Sonogno (1500m approach) or from lower valleys—allow 2 to 3 hours from the nearest village. The rifugio is a small operation with 15 beds across simple rooms. Meals are served by prior arrangement; bring cash and book food ahead when you reserve beds. Water comes from a spring. The hut is SAC-affiliated and typically open from May through October, though this varies—confirm dates before travel. Toilets are basic. Mobile reception is poor or absent.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least 2 weeks ahead, longer if you're arriving in July or August. The hut is quiet compared to major Alpine huts, so peak-season crowding is not an issue. Expect to pay around 35–45 CHF per bed and 20–30 CHF for dinner.
