Refuge Giuseppe Buzzoni

Rifugio Giuseppe Buzzoni sits at 1560m in the Orobian Alps above Introbio in Lombardy's Lecco province. Reach it from Introbio village (25 minutes by car to the trailhead) via a hiking path that takes 2–2.5 hours. The approach gains 600m steadily through mixed woodland. The hut works as a base for day walks in the Grigna massif and as a waypoint on longer traverses through this limestone range.
The refuge holds 34 beds in mixed dorms and some private rooms. Meals are simple and substantial—pasta, polenta, local cheese. The kitchen provides hot drinks throughout the day. There's no shower, but washing facilities are available. The hut opens year-round, though staffing is reduced outside peak season. Cell reception is spotty. The SAC maintains the building; local manager Claudio Prada runs daily operations and can advise on current trail conditions.
Book direct by email or phone. In July and August, book 3–4 weeks ahead. The hut fills on weekends year-round when weather is good. Outside summer, call first to confirm someone will be there. Pay in cash or by bank transfer (arrange this when you book). The hut is family-friendly and accommodates groups—let them know your party size when you contact them.
