Ristoro "San Martino"

Ristoro San Martino sits at 1,084m in the Val Verzasca, a deep limestone valley in southern Ticino. The hut lies on the main valley trail between Sonogno (1.5 hours downhill) and Lavertezzo (1 hour uphill). Approaching from Tenero-Contra on the valley floor takes 2.5 to 3 hours. Day hikers use it as a basecamp for exploring the Val Verzasca's granite gorges and swimming holes, or as a waypoint on longer valley traverses.
San Martino is a simple working ristorante—not a mountain hut in the Alpine sense. It offers hearty Ticinese food and cold drinks. The kitchen runs year-round; opening hours and meal service depend on season and owner schedules, so confirm before arriving. The setting is informal, with tables both inside and on a terrace. There's no accommodation. Most hikers pass through for lunch or a beer break rather than staying overnight.
Contact the hut directly by phone or email before your visit to check opening times, especially outside summer months. July and August are busiest; weekends fill quickly. Mid-week visits in shoulder seasons (May-June, September-October) are more relaxed. No advance meal reservation is typically necessary for lunch, but phone ahead if you're a large group or arriving outside standard hours.
