Bergseehütte SAC

Bergseehütte sits at 2,370m in the Uri Alps, roughly 4 hours on foot from Göschenen via the Göscheneralp valley. The approach is steady rather than steep—a solid day walk for anyone used to Alpine terrain. Most parties reach the hut from the north; southern approaches from the Gotthard massif are longer but also feasible depending on your itinerary.
The hut sleeps 65 across mixed dormitories and some smaller rooms. The SAC runs a full kitchen and serves evening meals and breakfast; a self-catering option exists if you prefer to cook. Water comes straight from the mountain, flush toilets are available, and standards are straightforward mountain hut. The season runs mid-June through September, with shoulder months depending on snow conditions. Winter closures mean you need to check the calendar before committing.
Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact them directly by phone or email—both options are listed on their SAC page. They fill fast during high season, particularly for groups. Outside peak weeks in mid-summer, you'll usually find space on shorter notice, but don't assume it. Confirm opening dates if you're planning a late May or early October trip.
