Brunnihütte SAC

Brunnihütte SAC sits at 1,860m in the Brunni area of Uri, a short walk from the villages of Engelberg and Wolfenschiessen. Most hikers approach from Engelberg via the Brunni-Surenen pass trail, taking 2.5–3 hours from the valley. The hut lies on a key transit route between the Surenen area and lower elevation traverses, making it well-positioned for day trips into the surrounding limestone peaks and meadows. Winter access is possible but conditions are variable at this elevation.
The hut holds 40 beds distributed across multiple rooms. SAC manages the facility and serves hot meals at set times, including lunch and dinner for those not self-catering. Drinking water is reliable. The season runs from March through November, with reduced staffing in shoulder months. Toilets and basic shower facilities are available. Bedding is provided. This is a straightforward mountain hut, not designed for comfort—expect dormitory-style sleeping and a working atmosphere typical of Swiss Alpine Club huts.
Book directly by email or phone at least 4–6 weeks ahead if you're visiting in July or August. Weekends fill faster than weekdays. The hut prefers advance notice for meal numbers. In May, September, and October, booking 2–3 weeks ahead is usually sufficient. Phone during business hours for availability and any changes to season opening dates, as weather or staffing sometimes shifts the spring opening.
