Jagdhütte Riederen

Jagdhütte Riederen sits at 1850m in the Riederen valley, Uri, on the eastern fringe of the Gotthard massif. Reach it from Göschenen (570m) by hiking the Riederen valley trail for 3.5–4 hours. The route follows a stream through alpine meadows and larch forest, gaining elevation steadily but without technical difficulty. This is a working hunting lodge first, a hut for hikers second—expect a quieter, more basic experience than larger SAC huts.
The hut sleeps 4 people in simple dormitory-style beds. There is no shower. Meals depend on the keeper's schedule and availability; contact ahead to confirm dinner service. The hut operates year-round but is staffed intermittently, particularly outside summer months. Winter and shoulder seasons require direct arrangement with the keeper. Water comes from a spring nearby.
Book directly with the keeper well ahead. This hut fills slowly compared to major alpine huts, but advance notice is essential to ensure someone is present and food is prepared. Winter visits need confirmation weeks beforehand. The hut works best as a base for hiking into the Riederen cirque or as a stopping point on longer Gotthard traverses, not as a casual drop-in refuge.
