Binntalhütte

Binntalhütte sits at 2,267m in the Binn Valley, deep in the Valais Alps east of the Rhône. Reach it from Fäld village (road end at 1,600m) via a straightforward 3-hour hike through larch forest and alpine meadows. The trail is well-marked and gains 700m steadily without technical difficulty. You can also approach from the Simplon Pass side, though the valley access from Fäld is most direct.

The SAC-managed hut holds 50 beds across multiple rooms. Hot meals are served daily during the season; a small self-catering kitchen is available if you prefer to cook. Water comes from a reliable source. The hut serves as a base for hiking in the high Valais backcountry—routes lead to nearby peaks and onward to other huts across the surrounding ridges. The setting is genuine mountain terrain, not a tourist destination. The hut operates year-round, though winter access may be limited to experienced winter hikers.

Book directly with the hut by phone or email as far ahead as possible. July and August fill quickly—aim for 2–3 months' notice during these months. Phone contact is more reliable than email for immediate confirmation. The hut sits remote enough that you'll benefit from advance planning, especially if you're part of a larger group or have specific meal requirements.
