Mittlenberghütte

Mittlenberghütte sits at 2,395m in the Valais Alps, accessible from multiple directions depending on your route. The most direct approach is from Saas-Grund: follow the trail via Saas-Almagel and continue upward for roughly 4 hours. The hut works equally well as a staging point between valleys or as a base for day walks in the surrounding terrain. Water is available at the hut.
The hut has 18 beds across several rooms. Meals are served daily—you order dinner and breakfast when you book. The operators run this as a working operation rather than a resort, so expect simple accommodation and straightforward mountain cooking. Opening season runs from late spring through early autumn; check current dates before planning your trip. The hut is unguarded outside these periods.

For July and August, contact the hut at least 6 weeks ahead. Shoulder season (June and September) generally has availability with 2–3 weeks' notice. Phone contact is more reliable than email during peak season. Arrive before dark and bring headtorch as backup.
