Rifugio Claudio e Bruno sits at 2,712m on the border between Valais and the Ticino Alps. The hut serves as a base for routes across the high passes between the Lepontine and Pennine ranges. Access from the south takes 4 to 5 hours from Nufenen Pass; from the north, allow 5 to 6 hours from the Gotthard region. Most hikers approach via multi-day traverses rather than day trips.
The refuge holds 60 beds across multiple rooms and runs self-catering and half-board options. Kitchen facilities are available if you bring your own food. Water comes from snowmelt and mountain streams; the hut is unmanned in winter so check ahead for seasonal operation. The SAC manages the hut as part of its wider network, and standards are straightforward: clean dorms, hot showers, and a reliable supply of fuel for cooking and heating.
