Cabin des Aiguilles Rouges

Cabane des Aiguilles Rouges sits at 2,810m in the Aiguilles Rouges massif above the Valais region. Access from the Trient valley takes 3–4 hours on foot. The hut works as a base for traverses across the Chamonix–Valais ridge system and approaches to peaks like Mont-Blanc du Tacul. Summer approach routes are snow-free by late June, but scrambling sections demand solid mountain sense.

The hut sleeps 70 across multiple dormitories and a few private rooms. Meals are prepared on-site—book dinner and breakfast when you reserve. Drinking water is available. There's no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the hut provides or bring food you can consume cold. Toilet and wash facilities are basic but functional. The season runs mid-June to late September; winter access requires mountaineering skills and prior arrangement. The hut is managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC/CAS).

Book directly by email or phone as early as possible. July and August fill 4–6 weeks ahead. June and September have more availability but weather is less stable. Expect to pay around 40–50 CHF for dormitory beds and 100+ CHF for private rooms. Half-board (bed, dinner, breakfast) is standard. Confirm your arrival time—the hut staff need notice to prepare meals for larger groups.
