Cabin des Audannes

Cabane des Audannes sits at 2,506m in the Valais Alps, serving hikers on routes across the region's high terrain. The hut lies on the classic tour between the Val d'Anniviers and the Turtmann Valley. Most parties reach it in 3 to 4 hours from the Grimentz side or 4 to 5 hours from Turtmann-Oberaar. The approach is straightforward summer hiking with solid paths throughout.

The hut has 46 beds split across multiple rooms. Hot meals are served each evening; breakfast is available before early starts. The kitchen can usually accommodate dietary requirements if you give notice when booking. Drinking water is reliable, drawn from mountain sources. The hut operates from June through September, though exact opening dates depend on snow melt and weather. Conditions can shift fast at this elevation, so check locally before arriving.

Book directly by phone or email at least two weeks ahead for mid-summer weekends. July and August fill quickly—aim for six weeks' notice if you're traveling then. The hut fills less on weekdays and in the shoulder months of June and September. You'll get a response within a day by phone; email can take longer during peak season. Bring cash for payment; card facilities are limited. Winter access is possible only for experienced mountaineers with appropriate equipment and avalanche knowledge.
