Wildstrubelhütte

Wildstrubelhütte stands at 2,793m on the Wildstrubel massif in the Valais Alps. Approach from Gemmipass (2,314m) takes 2.5 hours across alpine terrain. You can also reach it from Lenk in 4 hours via the Iffigalp. The hut sits on a major ridge crossing between the Rhône Valley and the Simme Valley, making it a natural halt on multi-day traverses.
The SAC-managed hut has 68 beds across multiple rooms. Half board (dinner, bed, breakfast) is standard; book meals when you reserve. A self-catering kitchen serves those bringing their own food. Water is available on site. The hut typically opens mid-June through September, depending on snow conditions. Winter access is sporadic and requires checking conditions ahead. From here you can summit Wildstrubel (3,243m) in under an hour, or continue north to Gemmipass and beyond.
Book directly by email or phone, especially for weekends and July–August when the hut fills fast. Expect to need reservations 3–4 weeks ahead for peak season. The hut can accommodate walk-ins if beds remain, but don't rely on this during summer. Confirm opening dates before you travel, as spring conditions can delay the season start.
