Cabin des Violettes

Cabane des Violettes sits at 2,209m in the Valais Alps, accessible via hiking routes from the lower valleys. The most direct approach is from Arolla, a 4-hour climb gaining 1,100m. Trails also connect from Lac Bleu and surrounding peaks, making this a logical stop on multi-day traverses through the region. The hut works well as a base for day trips to nearby summits or as an overnight break on longer ridge walks.
The SAC-managed hut has 24 beds across mixed dormitories. Meals are prepared daily—book your dinner and breakfast when you reserve. Drinking water is available on-site. The hut typically opens June through September, though dates vary with snow conditions. Check the SAC website for current opening information before planning your trip.
Book directly with the hut by email or phone. July and August fill 6–8 weeks ahead, so contact them early if those months suit your schedule. June and September are quieter but weather is less stable. The hut does not accept online booking platforms, so direct contact is essential. Arrive in daylight and plan your descent timing carefully, especially on exposed terrain above the cabin.
