Cabin des Martinaux

Cabane des Martinaux sits at 1,672m in the Val d'Illiez, roughly 15km south of Monthey in the Valais. The hut is accessible year-round on foot via a well-marked trail from Les Giettes, which takes roughly 1.5 hours. Most hikers approach from the north via the village of Troistorrents. The surrounding terrain offers moderate hiking through forest and alpine meadow, with straightforward access to higher elevations and onward routes through the region.

The cabin is a small, rustic facility with simple dormitory accommodation and basic cooking facilities. It operates as a staffed hut during the summer hiking season and can accommodate around 20 people in shared rooms. The hut provides meals or you can self-cater. Winter access is possible but you should confirm conditions and availability in advance, as the hut does not operate a full winter service. The location makes it a reasonable base for day hikes into the Val d'Illiez or as an overnight stop on longer routes through the Valais.

Contact the hut directly before planning your visit, especially outside peak summer. Mobile coverage can be patchy in the valley. Book accommodation at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. The hut can fill quickly during summer holiday periods and fair-weather weekends.
