Cabin Mont Fort

Cabane Mont Fort sits at 2457m on the ridge between Val d'Anniviers and the Évolène valley in Valais. The hut is on the Mont Fort massif, a key waypoint for hikers crossing the southern Pennine Alps. Reach it from Grimentz in 4–5 hours via the Tsimamorgin alp and the Col de la Forcletta, or from Évolène in 3.5–4 hours via the Lac de Trémorgin route. Both approaches gain 1000m+ of elevation and are straightforward trail hiking. The location works as a mid-route stop on longer traverses, particularly the Tour des Dents Blanches or connection to Cabane de Moiry.
The hut has 58 beds split across multiple rooms. Full meals are served at dinner and breakfast; there is no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the guardian provides. Drinking water is available on-site. WiFi is available, which is uncommon at this elevation and useful for last-minute changes. The hut operates year-round but confirm dates before planning a winter visit. Facilities are basic but solid—expect dormitory-style sleeping and shared bathrooms.
