Flueseehütte

Flueseehütte sits at 2,049m on the eastern shore of Fluesee, a small alpine lake in the Valais Alps. Reach it from Simplon-Dorf by hiking southeast up the Fletschhorn approach for 2.5 hours. The trail climbs steadily through pasture and scree, gaining 700m elevation. Alternatively, approach from the Nadelhorn/Fletschhorn climbing routes for mountaineers tackling peaks in this sector.
The hut operates as a simple alpine shelter with 14 beds across several rooms. The SAC-managed facility offers basic dormitory accommodation and meals prepared by resident staff. Water comes directly from the lake. The hut stays open from June through September, though exact dates depend on snow melt and weather. Expect no electricity, no heating beyond a wood stove, and no hot showers. This is working mountaineer accommodation, not a resort.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email as far ahead as possible. July and August fill quickly. The hut fills on weekends year-round during the season. For climbers on multi-pitch objectives, arrange supplies and timing beforehand—the hut cannot guarantee last-minute provisioning. Winter access requires mountaineering skills and conditions assessment; confirm status before attempting.
