Mischabelhütte

Mischabelhütte sits at 3,340m on the south side of the Mischabel, the second-highest massif in the Valais. The hut serves as a base for ascents of Dom (4,545m), Täschhorn (4,533m), and Alphubel (4,206m). Reach it from Täsch via the Täschalp route in approximately 4 hours of hiking, gaining 1,800m. The approach follows a well-marked trail through alpine meadows that steepen considerably above 2,500m. In winter conditions or for climbers with heavy packs, allow extra time.
The hut accommodates 120 people in mixed dormitory rooms. Hot meals are prepared daily, and the kitchen provides packed lunches for early starts. Drinking water comes from mountain sources. The hut is managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC/CAS) and opens from mid-June through September, with some variation depending on snow conditions. Winter mountaineering access is possible but requires winter alpine skills and avalanche assessment.
Book directly by email or phone as soon as your dates are confirmed. July and August fill 3–4 months ahead, particularly Thursday to Saturday slots for climbers targeting Dom on weekends. Weekday visits in June and September offer more flexibility. Confirm your arrival time when booking, especially if you plan an evening departure for a dawn climb. The hut team needs to know your expected numbers and any dietary requirements in advance.
