Orestes Hut

Orestes Hütte sits at 2,625m in the Ötztal region of Tyrol, Austria, serving as a base for hiking and mountaineering in the surrounding peaks. The hut is reached from the village of Längenfeld via the Stubaier Valley road, then a 2–2.5 hour hike from the Rofenhöfe parking area. The approach follows the Rofen Valley trail, gaining 650m through alpine meadows and scree slopes. Summer snow can linger into July on higher sections.
The hut is run as a SAC/CAS member facility and accommodates around 40 people in dormitory beds. The guardian serves hot meals at lunch and dinner, plus a simple breakfast. The building has running water and basic toilets; showers are available for an extra charge. The hut operates year-round, though winter access requires alpine experience and proper equipment. July and August see the highest traffic; weekends fill quickly during this period.
Book direct with the hut by phone or email at least two weeks ahead for summer weekends. Midweek slots are usually available with shorter notice. The hut charges per bed per night, with discounts for SAC/CAS members. Meals are ordered when you book or on arrival. The nearest village with supplies is Längenfeld, 90 minutes' walk down the valley, so arrive with food if you plan to stay multiple nights.
