Dreiwiesenhütte

Dreiwiesenhütte sits at 1,770m in the Carinthian Alps, accessible via hiking routes from the Gail Valley. The approach takes 2–3 hours depending on your starting point; most walkers begin from Kötschach-Mauthen or the Lesachtal valley. The hut serves as a base for day walks across the surrounding ridges and grazing lands, with moderate terrain that suits strong walkers and families with mountain experience.

The hut offers around 40 beds across simple rooms. Half-board is standard: substantial evening meals and hearty breakfasts fuel the next day's walking. The kitchen provides packed lunches on request. A small bar and common areas encourage evening conversation with other hikers. Open year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions—confirm before travelling November through March. Facilities are basic and functional: water is available, toilet and shower facilities are standard for this altitude, and heating makes shoulder seasons comfortable.

Book 4–8 weeks ahead for July and August. Email the hut directly or phone to confirm current availability and meal options. Ask about winter access when booking outside summer months. The hut operates under OeAV management and enforces a two-night minimum during peak season.
