Großwildalm
2.9About
The hut operates year-round and sleeps 50 in simple shared rooms. Meals are traditional Austrian fare—schnitzel, Kasnocken, decent coffee. The kitchen prepares packed lunches on request. Water comes from the spring. The hut is unguarded September to May; book ahead if visiting winter months. Phone reception is weak; plan accordingly.
Book directly by phone or email 2-3 weeks ahead for weekends June to September. July and August weekends fill quickly. The hut charges €18–22 per bed per night and €12–15 for half-board. Payment is cash only. Winter visits require confirmation that the hut is staffed. Strong walkers often use Großwildalm as a waypoint on longer Salzburg Alps routes linking to the Latenberghütte or Fürstauer Alm.
