About
The hut is a working alpine farm building with around 30 beds in simple dormitory rooms. Meals focus on hearty Austrian fare—expect schnitzel, sauerkraut, dumplings, and local cheeses rather than gourmet cooking. Water comes from the spring; the toilet is functional but basic. The OeAV manages it with typical alpine hut standards: no electricity in sleeping quarters, lanterns provided, cold washbasins outside. The season runs from June through September, closing earlier if snow returns.
Book directly by telephone well ahead. Call at least 4 weeks before your visit, especially for July and August when families use the pasture routes. Weekends fill faster than weekdays. The hut prefers groups to phone in advance so they can plan meal quantities. Payment is cash only—bring enough euros with you. Check opening dates before planning a trip in early June or late September, as spring snow can delay the season start.
