About
The hut is a small, traditional operation managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV). It sleeps around 40 people across mixed and family rooms. Half-board is standard; the kitchen serves hearty Austrian fare. The hut has basic shower facilities and reliable water supply. Mobile reception is patchy. This is a working mountaineer's base rather than a comfort refuge—expect simple, clean beds and good food.
Book 3 to 4 months ahead for July and August weekends. You can reach the hut directly by telephone or email to check availability and meal options. Many visitors use it as a staging point for Hochkönig traverses or day walks in the surrounding limestone terrain. Weekdays in June and September are much quieter and require less advance planning.
