Tüchelhütte

The Tüchelhütte sits at 1,760m in the Pinzgau region south of Zell am See. Access from the north takes 3.5 hours from Zell am See town via the Zeller Straße valley, climbing steadily through forest. From the south, the approach from Mittersill is longer but less trafficked—allow 4.5 hours. The hut marks a junction point on the Pinzgauer Spaziergang high trail and sits well-positioned for day trips into the Glockner Group foothills. The Saalach river valley approach from the west offers a gentler alternative if you're breaking a longer traverse.
The OeAV-managed hut sleeps 40 across simple shared rooms. The kitchen produces filling three-course dinners and substantial breakfasts; you can order packed lunches the evening before. There's a small bar stocked with local beer. Showers are available but water is limited in dry summers—expect cold water rinses rather than hot showers. The hut runs from mid-June through September, closing during the shoulder seasons when snow lingers on access trails.

Arrive early on your chosen day as the hut turns away latecomers when full, especially in summer. Groups should contact the warden at least two weeks ahead to confirm meal arrangements.
