The Admonter Haus sits at 1,725 m on the Grabnertorl, a saddle between the Mittagskogel and the Admonter Warte on the eastern edge of the Haller Mauern — the jagged limestone chain that forms the north-western rim of the Ennstal Alps, above Admont in Styria. It is the highest-situated hut in the wider Gesause/Ennstal Alpen area. Owned by the Austrian Alpine Club's Sektion Admont-Gesause, the house was built in 1894-95 and is reached only on foot: there is no supply road and no cable car, which has helped preserve its unspoilt character.

The hut sleeps 32 in three dormitories (8, 10 and 14 places); there are no private rooms and no self-service winter room. It is staffed from mid-May to early November, with occasional, weather-dependent opening in winter (late December to late March) for which overnight stays must be arranged in advance. The kitchen serves warm meals built on regional produce, with a distinctive Nepalese influence from its Sherpa staff. The Admonter Haus is a natural base for the surrounding summits, including the Admonter Warte (1,804 m), Grabnerstein (1,847 m) and Natterriegel (2,065 m).

It is staffed from mid-May to early November. In winter (late December to late March) it opens only occasionally depending on conditions, and winter overnight stays must be arranged in advance — there is no self-service winter room.
The hut is reached only on foot — there is no road or cable car. The most popular start is the Buchauer Sattel car park (about 2 hours 45 minutes); other trailheads are Admont/Hall, Oberlaussa and the Polzalm.
The approaches are marked mountain trails of moderate difficulty (roughly 850-1,100 m of ascent over 2.5-3 hours), suitable for reasonably fit hikers with sure footing. They are not technical, but the higher surrounding peaks require more experience.
The hut serves warm meals using regional produce, with a notable Nepalese/Sherpa influence. It is a staffed hut with dormitory sleeping for 32, not a self-catering refuge.
