Brunnenkogelhaus

Brunnenkogelhaus sits at 2,738m on the Brunnenkogel in the Ötztal region of Tyrol. Reach it from Längenfeld via the Ötztal road, then hike from the Brunnenkogelbahn cable car station (1,907m) in roughly 2 hours. The route climbs steadily through alpine terrain with good trail markings. In summer, you can shortcut the approach by taking the cable car partway up, reducing hiking time to 1–1.5 hours from the top station.
The hut sleeps around 30 people in mixed dormitory rooms and a few double rooms. Meals are straightforward mountain fare: three-course dinners, packed lunches, and solid breakfasts. Water and power are reliable. The hut opens late May through September, closing during snow season. Mobile reception is weak; expect radio silence on most networks. Toilets are basic but functional.
Book directly by phone or email at least 6 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Winter weekends and summer school holidays fill fast. Call ahead even for weekday visits in peak season to confirm bed availability. The OeTK (Austrian Tourist Club) manages the hut to a practical standard—expect clean beds and hot food, not luxury. This is a working mountain hut for people getting work done in the high Alps, not a destination for comfort seekers.
