Edelhütte

Edelhütte sits at 2,238m in the Zillertal Alps of Tyrol. Reach it from Mayrhofen via the Zillertal valley. The standard approach takes 3.5 hours from the village, climbing steadily through forest before opening onto alpine meadows. The hut works well as a base for ridge walking and peaks in the 2,600–2,900m range. Winter access is feasible but weather-dependent; confirm conditions before heading up.
The hut holds 40 beds across mixed dorm and double rooms. DAV Sektion Würzburg (the managing body) runs it as a working mountain hut with full kitchen facilities and hot water. Meals are simple and substantial—expect typical Bavarian Alpine fare. The hut opens year-round but staffing and services drop during shoulder seasons. Check ahead if visiting outside July and August. Showers are available. Phone ahead to confirm bed availability and any restrictions.
Book directly by phone with the hut. July and August fill 4–6 weeks ahead, especially weekends. Shoulder season (June, September) is quieter but still prudent to reserve a week in advance. DAV members get modest discounts; mention membership when booking. The hut does not take email bookings. Have your dates, party size, and any dietary needs ready when you call.
