Hanauer Hut

Hanauer Hütte sits at 1922m in the Zillertal, accessible from the village of Mayrhofen. The main approach takes 2.5 hours from Ginzling via the Zamser Grund valley—a steady climb through forest and meadow. You can also reach it in 3 hours from Mayrhofen itself, following the Zillertal hiking route. The hut sits on a working hiking network with onward routes to higher peaks and neighboring valleys.

The hut has 60 beds across multiple rooms and serves full meals in its communal dining area. Showers are available, a useful feature at this elevation. The DAV manages the hut to standard Alpine Club standards: simple, functional accommodation with decent food and reliable service. The season runs year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions. There's no WiFi—expect actual downtime here.
