Hochlandhütte

Hochlandhütte sits at 1,630m in the Zillertal valley, above the village of Fügenberg. Access is straightforward: walk from Fügenberg (the nearest valley settlement) in roughly 2 hours on marked trails through mixed forest. The hut is well-positioned as a base for day hikes across the surrounding ridges and peaks of the Zillertal Alps, or as a waypoint on longer traverses through the region. Winter access depends on snow conditions.
The DAV Sektion Hochland manages 41 beds across multiple rooms. Half-board is standard (dinner and breakfast included with bed). The kitchen serves substantial Alpine fare. There are no shower facilities, so plan accordingly. The hut operates year-round but confirm opening dates before travel, particularly for winter. A small shop supplies basics and snacks.
Book by phone directly with the hut. For July and August, contact 6–8 weeks in advance. Weekends fill quickly spring through autumn. The hut is quieter mid-week and outside school holidays, making those periods easier for spontaneous visits. Arrive by mid-afternoon for dinner service.
