Soiernhaus

Soiernhaus sits at 1616m on the northern edge of the Soierngruppe, a limestone range east of Mittenwald in the Loisach valley. The hut is a straightforward 2.5 hours on foot from Mittenwald, following the Loisach upstream through forest and meadow. You can also approach from Wallgau in 3 hours via the Farchant side, or descend from Kranzberg in 2.5 hours if you're connecting routes. The setting is relatively open, with access to ridgeline walking across the Soierngruppe's western face.
The DAV Sektion Hochland operates this 40-bed hut as a working base rather than a destination in itself. It serves basic meals and runs a small bar. Flush toilets are provided; there is no WiFi. The hut opens year-round but operates seasonally with variable staffing—winter visits require advance notice. Most guests stay one night while transit hiking between the Loisach valley and higher terrain like Heimgarten or the Benediktenwand.
Phone ahead before visiting, especially outside peak summer months. Contact the hut directly—DAV huts are not always bookable through the central DAV booking system. July and August see regular traffic; shoulder seasons (May, June, September) are quieter. The hut fills on weekends year-round but absorbs most demand except during school holidays. Bring cash; card payments are not guaranteed.
